Sow: Apr to Jul
Flowering: Mar to May
Sowing
Sow seed in short, shallow, pre-watered rows. Lightly cover with a little soil, and keep soil moist until seedlings emerge. Thin seedlings to around 2cm apart to allow development.
Transplanting
Transplant young plants to their final positions in late summer or early autumn. Allow 20cm between plants. When they are around 15cm high, pinch out the growing tip to encourage bushy growth.
Advice
Wallflowers do not thrive if sown in trays of compost, then planted out to the garden. Best results are always achieved by sowing direct in the soil in ‘nursery rows’, as outlined above.
