The stems grow in a variety of colours from pinks to yellows and are delicious when lightly boiled or steamed. The tasty leaves are bright green and can be eaten like spinach.

Sowing Outdoors
Sow seeds 2.5 cm deep, 10 cm apart, directly into the harvest position in rows 40 cm apart. Keep the soil consistently moist.
Thinning
When seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them to 30 cm apart as needed.
Advice
Use thinnings as baby salad leaves. Plants will continue cropping in all but the harshest weather, especially if given some winter protection.
