Sow: Apr to Jul / Apr to Jun
Flowering: Apr to Jun
Sowing
Level fill a module tray with seed compost, firming with the base of another tray. Water well with a fine rose. Sow seeds individually over the surface, lightly covering with a little more compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator at 15–20°C or cover tray with cling film and leave in a warm room. Seed can also be sown outdoors in short, shallow, pre-watered rows. Lightly cover with a little soil, and keep soil moist until seedlings emerge.
Growing On / Planting Out
Keep seedlings in a light position, but shaded from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm apart into trays of potting compost. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2–3 weeks before planting out during autumn. Young plants will then become established before the onset of winter. Allow 15cm between plants.
Aftercare
Keep soil moist and continue to monitor for growth. Thin plants as needed to ensure healthy development and flowering.
