Sowing Indoors
Sow seeds individually on edge in small pots of firm, moist seed compost 2 cm deep. Cover with cling film and place in warmth at 15–18 °C. As seedlings develop, remove cling film and grow under cool, light conditions, avoiding direct sunlight. Keep moist.
Planting Out
Gradually acclimatise seedlings to outdoor conditions for 2–3 weeks before planting out, allowing 90 cm between plants, after risk of frost has passed. Water and feed regularly.

Water sowing positions, then sow 2–3 seeds close together in a group 2 cm deep, spacing groups 90 cm apart. After germination, leave only the strongest seedling per group. Keep well watered in dry spells.
Aftercare
Pumpkins are thirsty and hungry plants. Water freely and frequently, especially during dry spells. Once fruits start to swell, feed regularly with liquid fertiliser. Grow and ripen in full sun.
