Unwins Californian Poppy XL Jelly Beans Seeds produce impressive extra-large double flowers in a range of beautiful pinks, oranges and reds.
These poppies thrive in poor soils, so can be sprinkled around less cared for areas of the garden to add colour to the garden. These poppies are good for both beds and containers so are very versatile.

Sow Outdoors: Mar to May, Aug to Oct
Flowering / Sow Outdoors: Jun to Sep
Sowing Outdoors
Rake soil to provide a firm, even surface. Sow seeds thinly in pre-watered soil, lightly covering them with a little more soil. Sowings made in semi-circular lines create a natural ‘drift’ effect. Keep moist until seedlings appear and water as required in dry spells.
Aftercare / Thinning
When large enough to handle, thin seedlings to allow their development and to prevent overcrowding.
Advice
Summer/autumn sowings will start to bloom earlier the following year than seeds sown in spring. Always sow Californian Poppies direct as they don’t transplant well.
