Unwins Climbing Pea Alderman Seeds will give you around 10 peas per pod. This is a tall variety giving bumper crops of really tasty peas over a long period.
Can be eaten as mangetout or allowed to mature, tall variety giving bumper crops of tasty peas over a long period and suitable for the showbench
The pods are of excellent quality, making it good for the show bench too. Alderman will grow to around 5ft tall so it will require support similar to that of runner beans.

Sow Outdoors
Make a flat-bottomed drill 5 cm deep and 15 cm wide. Sow seeds approximately 7.5 cm apart in a zigzag pattern. Backfill with soil and firm gently. Allow about 60 cm between rows.
Support
As the peas grow, support them with netting or pea sticks.
Advice
Protect emerging shoots from birds using twigs or netting. Keep the soil consistently moist at the base without wetting the leaves. Sow successively for continuous crops. For an earlier start, sow indoors in late winter and plant out once seedlings are about 20 cm tall and acclimatised to outdoor conditions. Warm the soil under cloches or polythene for early sowings if necessary. Pick pods regularly.
