Sow: Feb to Aug
Flowering: Apr to Oct
Sowing
Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface, and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Place in the warmth, 15–20°C and keep moist. Allow at least 3 weeks for germination.
Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position, shading from bright sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5 cm apart into trays of potting compost, or individually into 8 cm pots.
Hardening Off / Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2 to 3 weeks before planting out 15 cm apart, avoiding frosts.
Sowing Outdoors
Sow thinly in a seed bed, 5 mm deep in well-prepared, pre-watered soil. Thin to 5 cm apart when large enough to handle, then plant out into their final position from late summer, 15 cm apart.
Advice
Flowering time depends on when the seeds are sown. Early sowings will flower the same year; later sowings will flower the following year.
