Product Details

Unwins Night Scented Phlox Midnight Candy Seeds are charming, starry flowers have a beautiful evening fragrance, perfect for summer evenings in the garden.

The reason that Phlox bloom at night is because they are pollinated by nocturnal insects or moths. Plant these flowers in containers and gaps in borders for a small but effective addition to your garden.

  • Enchanting evening fragrance
  • Small plants, BIG fragrance
Sow: Feb to Apr
Flowering: Jun to Aug

Sowing
Level fill a module tray with seed compost, firming with the base of another tray. Water well with a fine rose. Sow seeds individually over the surface, lightly covering with a little more compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator at 15–18 °C or cover the tray with cling film and leave in a warm room.

Growing On
When shoots appear, remove cling film or ventilate the propagator. Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight. Grow on in a minimum temperature of 10 °C.

Hardening Off / Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2–3 weeks before planting out when the risk of frost has passed. Allow 20 cm between plants. Water well until established. Plant in groups of 3s and 5s.

Aftercare
Remove spent flower heads by pinching off the stem within the canopy of the plant.

Advice
Prefers a sunny site with moist but well-drained soil. Containers or raised beds are perfect for this.
