Thinning
When seedlings are large enough to handle, thin to allow proper development and prevent overcrowding.
Growing Tip
Late summer and autumn-sown seedlings may benefit from cloche or fleece protection when hard frosts threaten. These plants usually bloom earlier the following summer than spring-sown ones.

- Rake soil to create a firm, even surface.
- Sow seeds thinly in pre-watered soil in full sun, lightly covering with a little more soil.
