Unwins Melon Arava F1 Seeds create a sweet and aromatic Galia type melon. With a deliciously tender flesh, Arava produces fruits of 1-2kg. It's also rich in vitamins and antioxidants.
Melon Arava sets well in lower temperatures and shows good resistance to powdery mildew to give a good long growing season.

Sowing Indoors
Level-fill a module seed tray with seed compost, firming with the base of another tray. Water well with a fine rose. Sow seeds individually on edge, 1.5 cm deep. Place in a propagator at 20 °C or cover tray with cling film and leave in a warm room. Keep moist.
Growing On
When shoots appear, remove cling film. Keep seedlings in a light position, shaded from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant into 8 cm pots of potting compost. Grow on at a minimum temperature of 15 °C.
Planting Out
Plant into the greenhouse border 60 cm apart, grow bags, or in 30 cm diameter containers on a sunny, sheltered, frost-free patio when first flowers have opened. Water and feed well to promote fruiting. If male flowers form (those without a swelling behind them), do not remove them as they are necessary for pollination.
Advice
Water and feed regularly. Indoor crops require plenty of ventilation in summer and a climbing support for them to scramble up.
