Product Details

Unwins Lobelia Sapphire Seeds produces masses of violet-blue flowers. With a trailing habit and a long flowering period it's compact nature makes it an ideal variety for hanging baskets and other patio containers.

You'll find that it becomes smothered in pretty sapphire blooms for weeks on end.

  • Perfect for pots and containers
  • Prefers part shade
Sow: January to March
Flowering: June to September

Sowing
Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface and do not cover them. Place in the warmth, 15–20 °C, and keep moist.

Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position but shade from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5 cm apart into trays of potting compost. It is easier to transplant small clumps of Lobelia seedlings than single seedlings.

Hardening Off / Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2–3 weeks before planting out when the danger of frost has passed.

Advice
When planting into the final growing position, do not separate the clumps of seedlings. Lobelia looks best planted en masse.
