Unwins Leek Porbella Seeds give a great quality of uniform, upright variety of leeks of high quality.
Porbella produces heavy harvests of flavourful leeks that can be harvested from October through to winter. It also has great bolt resistance.
Excellent frost hardiness and an award-winning variety with attractive blue-green leaves.
Harvest: Oct to Feb
Sowing Indoors
Sow thinly into pre-watered seed trays 1 cm deep. Place in warmth (10–15 °C) and keep moist at all times.
Planting Out
When 20 cm tall, plant into holes 15 cm deep, then fill with water. Plant 20 cm apart, in rows 30 cm apart.
Sowing Outdoors
Sow thinly into pre-watered soil 1 cm deep in rows 30 cm apart in a seedbed. Keep soil moist at all times. Thin to 20 cm apart.
Aftercare
To ensure long white stems, draw up soil around plants as they develop. Keep well watered and feed regularly.
