Unwins Hollyhock Chaters Double Seeds produce double, peony-like flowers in a bold mix of colours. Chater's Double is a classic mix of double flowers with a frilly, full appearance.
This classic garden favourite is a hardy perennial so will flower year after year. Often found in cottage gardens, hollyhocks are an impressive addition to any garden.

Sow: March to May, August to September
Flowering: June to October
Position: Full Sun
Sowing Indoors
Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface and lightly cover with a little more compost. Place in warmth, 15–20 °C, and keep moist.
Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position but shaded from bright sun. When large enough to handle, transplant individually to 8 cm pots of potting compost.
Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2–3 weeks before planting out in full sun from early summer onwards. Allow 30 cm between plants.
Advice
Seed can also be sown in late summer for an earlier display the following season. Keep them in a frost-free place over winter before planting out when the risk of frost has passed.
