Ideal in sun or part shade, Heucheras are low-maintenance plants and their attractive, patterned foliage makes excellent ground cover. Produces clusters of white flowers. Bright red growth matures to purple leaves.
Sowing Indoors
Sow on the surface of pre-watered seed compost, in pots or trays, lightly pressing into the surface. Place in a propagator or bag at around 20 °C in shade and allow 2–6 weeks for germination. Remove lid or bag and keep in cooler, brighter conditions after germination.
Growing On
Transplant when seedlings are large enough to handle. Grow on in a sheltered spot outdoors, such as a cold frame or unheated greenhouse.
Planting Out
Plant out in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soil and water in well.
Aftercare
Deadhead to prolong the flowering period. This may produce a second flush later in summer. Clumps may be divided in autumn every 3 years.
