Unwins Rosemary is an essential kitchen herb with a distinctive strong perfume and taste. A key ingredient in its native Mediterranean region, Rosemary adds a distinctive flavour to many dishes such as roast lamb, fish dishes and deserts.
The leaves can be picked as needed at any time. With masses of blue flowers in spring and early summer, loved by bees, it's a beautiful plant for the border too as well as for pots and container.

Sow: February to July
Harvest: January to December
Sowing
Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface and lightly cover with a little more compost. Place in warmth at 10–15°C and keep moist. Note that germination may take up to 8 weeks.
Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position but shaded from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant individually into 8cm pots of potting compost.
Aftercare
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions over 2–3 weeks before planting out from early summer onwards. Allow 60cm between plants. Rosemary thrives in dry, sunny, sheltered positions on well-drained soil.
Advice
Harvest regularly to encourage plenty of new growth. Avoid cutting into old woody growth, as rosemary does not regrow from it. Can be used fresh or dried.
