Sowing
Sow thinly in trays of firm, pre-watered compost and cover lightly with vermiculite or sieved compost. Place in warmth at 15–20°C and keep moist at all times.
Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position but shade from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant into trays or pots of potting compost.
Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions before planting out in a sunny spot, 30cm apart, once the risk of frost has passed. Water well until established. Alternatively, plant or sow directly into a container.
Advice
Mint has a tendency to spread. Grow in pots to restrict its spread; pots can be buried in the ground if desired.
