Product Details

Unwins Dill Seeds are a great herb seed to sow to add to your herb garden. You can use the leaves, seeds and flowers in your cooking, making this a very useful herb!

With an aniseed flavour, dill is useful in a range of dishes including in pickles and with fish. The leaves are great with salmon, cream cheese, egg and salads, use the seeds in soups, pickles, apple pie and cakes and add the flower heads to jars of pickled gherkins.

Sow: March to June
Harvest: July to September

Sowing
Sow 5–6 seeds per module in trays of firm, pre-watered compost and cover with 5mm of vermiculite or sieved compost. Place in warmth at 15–20°C and keep moist at all times.

Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position, shading from bright sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant modules to small pots of potting compost.

Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions over 2–3 weeks before planting out 30cm apart. Do not separate the module, as dill has a delicate root system.

Sowing Outdoors
Sow thinly, 5mm deep, directly in the harvest position. Thin seedlings to 20cm apart. Keep soil moist at all times.

Advice
Dill is an annual and will need sowing every season.
