Sow: February to July

Sowing
Seeds can be sown any time of year, but the optimum period is February to July. Sow in 8cm pots of firm, pre-watered compost, lightly covering with compost or vermiculite. Cover with cling film and maintain a temperature of around 15°C. Once seedlings emerge, remove the cling film and place on a sunny windowsill. Keep compost damp but not waterlogged.
Planting Out
Gradually acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions in late spring and summer. For container growing, use a pot at least 20cm in diameter.
Aftercare
Harvest tips regularly and remove flowers as needed. Avoid leaving plants wet overnight — morning watering is ideal.
