Sowing Indoors
Level fill a tray with seed compost, firming with the base of another tray. Water well with a fine rose. Scatter seeds thinly and cover with a thin layer of vermiculite. Place in a propagator at 20 °C, or cover the tray with cling film and leave in a warm room.
Sowing Outdoors
Rake soil to provide a firm, even surface. Sow seeds thinly in pre-watered soil, lightly covering with a little more soil. Keep moist until seedlings appear and water as required during dry spells.
Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position, shaded from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5 cm apart into trays of potting compost, or individually into 8 cm pots.
Planting Out
Plant in a sunny spot with well-drained, fertile soil. Allow 25 cm between plants. Keep well-watered, especially during warm, dry spells.
