Geranium Sprite F2

Unwins Geranium Sprite F2 Seeds produce half-hardy annual geraniums that come in an assortment of pretty colours.

These flowers are ideal for containers due to their neat, compact growing habit. They have a long flowering season and are best placed under glass overwinter, before re-potting in spring.

Sow: January to March
Flowering: January to March and June to October

Sowing
Almost fill a small seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface and lightly cover with a little more compost. Place in a warm environment at 20–25 °C and keep moist at all times. Lower temperatures inhibit germination.

Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position, shading from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant individually into 8 cm pots. As young plants develop, grow on at 10–15 °C.

Hardening Off / Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outdoor conditions over 2–3 weeks before planting out once the danger of frost has passed. Allow 20 cm between plants.

Aftercare / Advice
Geraniums benefit from regular feeding throughout the season and from dead-heading to encourage new flowers.

Overwintering
Overwinter under glass, then re-pot into John Innes No.2 loam-based growing medium in spring.
