Description
An easy-to-grow plant that produces white flowers, aging to pink, from spring until autumn. Provides colour for many months and is ideal for borders, pots, or cracks between paving slabs.
Sowing
Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface and lightly cover with vermiculite or a little more compost. Place in a warm position at 15–20 °C and keep moist. Keep in a light position but away from direct sunlight.
Growing On
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant individually into 8 cm pots. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions over 2–3 weeks before planting out once the risk of frost has passed.
Planting Out
Plant in a sunny, sheltered spot in well-drained, fertile soil, allowing 30 cm between plants. Alternatively, grow in a patio pot using good-quality compost. Keep well-watered, especially during warm, dry spells.
Advice
Try planting in cracks between paving slabs or steps for a charming, natural effect.
