Unwins Cutflowers Unwins Special Mix Seeds produce hardy annual flowers of an assortment of beautiful colours.
These quick-flowering plants can be cut over many weeks and arranged into mixed bouquets. Some would call them a flower arranger's dream!
Sow: March to May / August to October
Flowering: June to October
Sowing
Rake soil to provide a firm, even surface. Sow seeds thinly in pre-watered soil, lightly covering with a little more soil. Sowings made in semi-circular lines create a natural ‘drift’ effect. Keep moist until seedlings appear and water as required in dry spells.
Thinning
When large enough to handle, thin seedlings to allow proper development and prevent overcrowding.
Advice
Late summer and autumn sown seedlings may benefit from cloche or fleece protection when hard frosts threaten. Such plants generally bloom earlier the following summer than spring sown plants.
