Product Details
Unwins Courgette Tristar F1 Seeds produce an exciting, colour contrasting mix of delicious courgettes.
Perfect addition to kebabs and stir fries. This bushy variety can be sown indoors or outdoors and grow well in full sun.
Sow: Apr to Jun
Harvest: Jun to Oct
Sowing Indoors
Sow seeds individually on edge in small pots of firm, moist seed compost, 2 cm deep. Place in warmth (15–18 °C) and keep moist. As seedlings develop, grow on under cool, bright conditions, avoiding direct sunlight.
Planting Out
Gradually accustom young plants to outdoor conditions over 2–3 weeks before planting in their cropping positions, after risk of frost has passed. Water generously and feed regularly with a tomato fertiliser once fruits begin to swell.
Sowing Outdoors
Water sowing positions, then sow 2–3 seeds close together in a group 2 cm deep, 90 cm apart. After germination, thin to leave only the strongest seedling per group. Water generously and apply tomato feed regularly.
Caution
Extremely rarely, courgettes may produce very bitter fruit that can cause stomach upset. Test by tasting the cut surface of one fruit per plant; do not eat bitter fruits.
Advice
Courgette flowers are edible, either cooked or raw in salads. Regular harvesting encourages continued production of fruits.
