Unwins Pointed Cabbage Durham Early Seeds produce firm, pointed cabbage hearts with a great taste. Ideal for a spring harvest, this will produce one of your earliest & best cabbages of the season.
This variety has large, solid heads. You can also use this as spring greens.

Sowing Indoors
Sow thinly, 1 cm deep, in clean trays or modules filled with firm, pre-watered compost. Place in warmth (10–15 °C) and keep soil moist at all times.
Growing On / Planting Out
When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings 5 cm apart into trays or individual pots of potting compost. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 2–3 weeks before planting out in their cropping position. Water generously in dry weather.

Sow thinly in a shallow, pre-watered row. Lightly cover with soil and keep moist until seedlings are established. Thin to 2 cm apart.
Transplanting
When seedlings have about four true leaves, transplant them to their cropping positions. Firm in well and keep soil moist, watering regularly during dry spells.
Aftercare
Keep soil moist and weed-free. Feed with a balanced fertiliser as hearts begin to form. Protect from birds and cabbage white butterflies with fine netting.
