What should hamsters eat on a daily basis?
Hamsters and other small animals should be fed a mixture of pellets that is tailored to their breed. You should also give your pet a small amount of fresh fruits and vegetables such as apples or greens. Roughly only 5% of their diet should be treats as this will be sufficient for their small stature. Most small animals only need to be fed once a day, so you can reserve the treats for later on in the day if you prefer.

How often should you change the bedding in a hamster cage?
Hamster cages and small animal enclosures should be cleaned once a week, this includes changing the bedding. However, if you have more than one animal in the same enclosure this may need to be done more frequently. We also recommend using a small animal safe disinfectant spray to clean the tubes, toys, and plastic linings of your cage to keep your pet healthy.

Do small animals need toys?
Yes, just as a dog or a cat will need toys for entertainment, small animals will also require mental stimulation. Small animals particularly enjoy chew toys, or toys that encourage burrowing. Without these toys, your animals may become destructive or lethargic. We recommend opting for some assault-course style toys as well as chew toys and tunnels.
